I can upon your blog from the Mega Family blog....I am "The Garden Gate"
I have 7 kiddos on earth, 1 in heaven
and another little one due in about 5-6 weeks! If its a girl (we do not know) but her name will be Sarah Elizabeth!
OH I read about your mix up on the gestational diabetis. I have had to take the 3hr gloucose screen for the last 4 pregnancies including this one and they told me I did NOT have it. But my last 3 babies were all over 10#. My last was induced 4 days early and was 10#11oz!!!
So this time even though they said I did NOT have GD my OB wanted me to talk to the dietation. I now have a strict diet and check my blood sugar 4-5 times a day and check my ketones in the morning. I do have it and now need meds to help control my numbers!
Diet alone is not working for me! :(
I pray all is going well with your new little Sarah!
Peace and Joy,
Georgiann
Georgiann~ Thanks for stopping by! Sorry it took me so long to get this published, we were without internet for a while :( I am sorry you are having to deal with Diabetes. I know it's not easy, but it can be done and hopefully everything will go well for you!
Just to clarify... They were not saying I had Gestational Diabetes, they were saying I was diabetic. GD doesn't start up until 24+ weeks. The only real issues with GD are high birth weights and low blood sugars at birth. And that is with out of control GD. Diabetes in pregnancy is very dangerous if you have it and don't realize it and your sugars are out of control during the first trimester. That is when the baby is forming the most and any imbalance in your body can cause birth defects. I am not saying there are no risks associated with GD, but with true GD there are actually very few. It is only with very out of control BS's or with actual Diabetes that there are really high risks.
I truly have neither. Both my parents are Diabetic and I have 4 of the 5 risk factors for diabetes. So I have a very high chance of developing it. As of right now (and what happens in most of my pregnancies) I have an occasional high blood sugar. It is usually random and for no apparent reason. But during pregnancy I monitor my BS's daily and follow a not-so-strict diabetic diet and my BS's are always perfect. If anything on the low side. My babies are all 7-8 lbs. and never have any health issues.
